Stellenbosch Visit July 2022

Updated: Jan 29, 2023

Our trip mission was to visit the vineyards we collaborate with, connect with a few new vineyards and enjoy a short holiday.

We recently returned to Los Angeles from visiting Stellenbosch, the name sake of Stellies Wines.

Stellenbosch is a small town 31 miles east of Cape Town. It is part of the Coastal Wine Region, along with Franschhoek and Paarl. There are 5 wine regions in South Africa: Coastal Region, Breede River Valley, Klein Karoo, Cape South Coast and Olifants River.

The Western Cape landscape is made of high mountains, rounded hills and sprawling valleys. Being winter, the fresh winter air was crisp in the breeze. We were prepared for rain but after the first day, the sun broke through the clouds, revealing rolling waterfalls within the majestic mountains and luminous green fields.

It was exhilarating visiting the farms, touring the facilities and meeting the people who are involved with making the delicious wines that inspire us.

We explored far and near; Robertson (2 hours further east), Paarl, Franschhoek, Constantia, Stellenbosch and more. We hope our next journey will extend to Overberg and even Langebaan.

But life isn't all about business right? (Even though we love what we do.) It was lovely to be able to wonder around and explore; find new vineyards and visit some old time favorites.

We did some general sightseeing, sipped on warm red-cappuccino's (a South African gem) and ate the local foods.

Our trip was a success and we are excited to be back. We look forward to continuing our "vino-'ture" (a.k.a wine adventure) and sharing it with all of you.

We are happy to soon be introducing 2 more amazing vineyards to our collection.
Keep an eye out for updates.
